POSITIONEN & THEMEN
The third meeting between 5 left-wing Palestinian parties (PFLP The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, DFLP The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, PPP The Palestinian People's Party, FIDA Palestine Democratic Union, PNI Palestinian National Initiative) was held last week to discuss the preparations for the international meeting about the Middle East called by USA president G. Bush in November this year 2007. The meeting of the parties stated:
1– The best way to solve the conflict between Palestinian Arabs and Israel is to call for a real international conference about the Middle East under the umbrella of the United Nations and to implement all the UN resolutions, in particular resolutions 194, 242, 338; and all Arab countries must be invited to this conference, especially Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and others around Israel such as Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia.
2– The Middle East summit meeting called in November 2007 in USA by Bush will not be under the UN and not be based on the UN resolutions. The Bush and Olmert governments want to base there plan especially on the Bush-Sharon agreement of 14th April 2004 which will not move the Israeli colonizers from the Arab land occupied in 1967, and they refuse the Palestinian right to return and to make East Jerusalem the capital of a Palestinian State.
3– To stand up against the summit meeting called by Bush requires deep co-ordination between Palestinians and Arab countries and their work together for a real conference which requests conditions for a successful conference to end the Israeli occupation of the Arab land occupied in 1967.
This requires :
a- This Conference should be based under the umbrella of the UN and implement UN resolutions in the Middle East issue nos. 194, 242, 338, etc.
b- The main goal should be to end the Israeli occupation of Arab land occupied in 1967 and build a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
c- To reach a final and just solution to the main reasons for conflict in the Middle East, the Palestinian issue including Jerusalem, refugees, settlements (colonized), security, water, apartheid wall.
d- Arab countries should work together for a just solution in the Middle East under the UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative taken at the Arab summit in Lebanon.
e- All Arab countries must participate in this conference, especially those who have occupied land (Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine) and other countries around Israel (Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc.).
4– We warn against the risks of the proposed international meeting unless the minimum of these conditions are fulfilled to ensure that is success on the balanced and Comprehensive solution to prevent it from repeating the partial solutions.
5– For a successful meeting there is a need to be confident that as a precondition for resolving other conflicts in this issue Israel should complete withdrawal from the occupied territories.
6– We warn against negotiations between the PLO and Israel in this time while we Palestinians are not united, and Hamas is going to build an Islamic state. In this time we should unite under the umbrella of PLO against the Israeli and American policy in the Middle East.
7– We should stand up together in this dangerous situation. Negotiation with Israel must be under the control of the executive committee of the PLO, and left political parties must be very active in the executive committee of the PLO.
At last we call on our friends in Arab countries and all over the world, especially left and democratic parties, trade union movements, human rights organizations and free democratic people all over the world to stand up and speak out with us, the Palestinian people, against war for a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and for social protection and human and workers' rights.
