Party of the European Left against a potential military intervention in Libya

People of the popular uprising have several times expressed their refusal on any foreign intervention of this kind, which could also be used by the Kadhafi regime in its favour, because he accused the popular insurrection of supporting it, contrary to the interest of the Libyan people.

We condemn the brutal repression of demonstrators and we denounce the massive sale of weapons that the EU Member States have made to Libya and other repressive regimes.

EL alerts on the serious humanitarian situation suffered by thousands of

Libyans standing along the border with the Tunisia and arriving to the

island of Lampedusa.

We demand that the EU assumes the dramatic situation of these people who

cannot be returned to their country or to other countries because their

lives would be endangered.
