Declaration of the Hungarian Workers Party on the Iraq war

The Hungarian Workers Party deeply condemns the aggression of the United States and its allies against Iraq. The Bush administration has been cynically in favor of the war from the very beginning of the conflict. They declined to respect the desire of the people to save peace; they undermined the peace efforts of the United Nations. The real desire of the US government was to get control over the strategic resources of the Middle East and to get the right to command all over the world.

The war against Iraq clearly demonstrated that the global capitalism is unable to solve in a democratic and peaceful way the conflict situations of modern world. In this system money is the only value.

The Hungarian Workers Party condemns the pro-US policy of the actual Hungarian government. On behalf of all honest and peace loving Hungarian people we are ashamed that Hungary has a government that defends foreign interest against the interests of its own people and takes the country into war. The socialist-liberal government deceives the whole country. They say: “we are in ally not in war”. What is the truth? The truth is that death transports are going through the airspace and territory of Hungary. All of them go to Iraq.

The US policy means danger to Hungary, too. We cannot become winners in a war led in the interests of imperialist powers.

We demand to stop the war! We demand not to allow the US Hungarian territory. We support the peace initiatives of all civil organizations. The Hungarian Workers Party will take part in the peace demonstration on 29 March in front of the Hungarian parliament.
